This morning I woke up, made my coffee, and sat down at my desk to read my morning "paper"...which has evolved into nothing but design blogs. About halfway through my usual repertoire of browsing, I noticed this post over at Apartment Therapy...then, much to my chagrin, this post over at Design Sponge. I was horrified. Has anyone noticed? COUNTRY DECOR is coming back. We must run from this trend people! Before you know it, the front page of Etsy will contain nothing but cross-stitchery and handmade dolls. With the reawakening of floral wallpaper and wooden paneling, I've decided to fight the forces of evil (aka country decor) that have infiltrated our beloved design community full force. Who will join the fight?

I will! And I hope you don't mind me posting your picture and linking to this post on my blog :)
NOOOOOO!!! Count me in - this would be a disaster!
wow, ur so right... I didn't even put the two together but did go 'bleh' when i read both those posts. I'm all for rustic, and antiques, and vintage... but moderation is key. I will not stand by and watch clothespin puppets take over Etsy et al.
OMG! Bleh!~
i hope this is not where where headed, didn't like it the first time around.....god save us....(although the image you have posted made me laugh!)...i'm part of the crusade..count me in...maureenlynne
I'll be there! Don't wake up the dead, please!
I think the examples at apartment therapy and D's blog are hardly the standard "country kitchen" motif. They are retro patterns with vibrant colors and contrasting textures. natural wood and flowers might conjure country mayhem but these interpretations are much more hip. No need to be alarmed...
