Our two year old desperately needed a bookshelf last year. Being poor graduate students at the time, we decided to go dumpster diving. On neighborhood trash pick up day, we found an old door, some gutter guard, and a beat-up old shelf. After combining all three, the results were quite nice. Although no longer graduate students, we simply couldn't part with it!

Oh we won't! My hubby and I are both hoarders, and after putting so much work into it we couldn't part with it :)
